Ghaus Barristers & Solicitors is a law firm in F-8 Markaz, Islamabad, led by Abdul Salam Ghaus and Barrister Abdul Saboor Ghaus. We act for individuals, families, businesses and organisations in civil, criminal, tax, dispute resolution and human rights matters, in the courts of Islamabad and wherever a matter takes us.
Our approach is proactive and client-focused. You deal directly with the lawyer handling your matter, you see what is filed in your name, and you hear from us after every hearing.

Terms in writing
Before any work begins, you receive a written engagement letter: the scope, the fee and what it covers, and what is charged separately, such as court fees and stamp duty.

Instruction and filing
You sign the wakalatnama, we prepare the pleadings, and you see what is being filed in your name before it is filed.

Many of our clients live in the UK, the Gulf, North America and Australia. Property, inheritance, possession and family matters can be handled through a properly executed power of attorney, with instructions by email and video call, and every filing shared with you.

Do you charge for the first consultation?
We tell you the consultation charge, if any, when you get in touch, before anything is booked. Nothing is charged that has not been agreed with you first.
How much will my case cost?
It depends on the matter, the forum and the stage. After the first meeting you receive a written estimate: a fixed fee or stage-wise fees, what they include, and what is separate, such as court fees and stamp duty. You decide with the numbers in front of you.
How long will it take?
Longer than anyone would like. Courts in Pakistan are slow, and no lawyer can promise a date. What we control is preparation, attendance at every hearing and pursuing every step without delay, and we tell you at each stage what is realistic.
Can you guarantee the outcome?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. An advocate cannot promise a result, and the Bar Council treats any such assurance as misconduct. What we can promise is thorough preparation, an honest assessment before you spend a rupee, and a clear account of your options at every turn.
Will I know what is happening in my case?
Yes. After every hearing you are told what happened and what comes next, including an adjournment and the new date. Copies of filings and orders are shared with you, and you can ask for the file at any time.
Who will actually handle my case?
One of the two partners takes your instructions and supervises the matter throughout. You are told by name who will appear at each hearing, and if that changes on a particular date, you are told beforehand, not afterwards.
I live abroad. Can you act without me coming to Pakistan?
In most civil, property and inheritance matters, yes, through a power of attorney attested at the Pakistani mission where you live, or issued through NADRA's online power of attorney service. Some matters need your presence at a particular stage, and we tell you in advance if yours does.
Can a power of attorney be misused?
It can, if it is drafted too widely. Ours are limited to the task and the time needed, so the attorney can act in the case but cannot sell or transfer what is yours. You keep the original, and you can revoke it at any time.
How do I know the firm is genuine?
Visit the office in F-8 Markaz, or ask for our Bar Council enrolment details and check them yourself on the Islamabad Bar Council website. A lawyer who will not show you an enrolment is not one to instruct.
The police will not register my FIR. What can I do?
The law gives you a route: an application to the court, which can direct the police to register the case. Bring whatever evidence you have and a note of every date. We do not pay anyone, at any stage, to make a file move, and we will not ask you to.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Every document connected to the matter, including the ones you think do not matter: notices, agreements, title papers, FIR copies, correspondence, and a timeline of dates in your own words.
